Sderot, El Salvador teens relax at Camp Gesher

These teenagers from Sderot, along with four girls from El Salvador, were brought to Camp Gesher this year by Yaldeinu, an organization that is dedicated to preserving Judaic values through formal and informal education.

Yaldeinu is all about the kids, founder says

In less than a month, Yaldeinu's more informal side will gear up in Ontario, when children will arrive for a three-week stay at Camp Gesher, which is part of the Habonim Dror movement. While 4 of the the 10 visitors live in El Salvador, the rest call Sderot home, currently hard-hit by Qassam rocket attacks from the Gaza strip. The program is in cooperation with One Family Fund Canada and the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem.

YALDEINU ANNOUNCES FIRST JEWISH INTERNATIONAL SUMMER CAMPING EXCHANGE PROGRAM

Yaldeinu recently announced its first summer camping exchange program. The July-August program will see 9 children – 5 from Sderot, Israel and 4 from San Salvador, El Salvador – travel to Ontario for a 3 week overnight session at Camp Gesher.

CANADIAN JEWISH YOUNG ADULT ORGANIZATIONS TO COLLABORATE ON PURIM BENEFIT FOR SDEROT

This is our way of supporting the children of Sderot, a city has endured thousands of rocket attacks over the past 6 years. The toll on its children has been unbearable,” said Michael Ettedgui of Yaldeinu. Yaldeinu will use funds raised for its summer camping projects in Sderot.

New organization supports Jewish education

Michael Ettedgui has founded an organization to support formal and informal Jewish education in a variety of countries, beginning with Bolivia, Colombia and Uruguay. He is also investigating needs in other Latin American countries, the Caribbean and sub-Saharan Africa.
